Spearheaded by Sadhguru, the Cauvery Calling movement planted 1.36 crore saplings across 34,000 acres in 2024–25, taking the total to 12.2 crore trees and supporting 2.38 lakh farmers in tree-based agriculture. With 50,931 farmers and citizens joining last year alone, the initiative remains the world’s largest farmer-led ecological movement.

Aiming to plant 242 crore trees on private farmlands to rejuvenate the Cauvery River and enhance farmer incomes, the movement has established large-scale nurseries like the 85-lakh-capacity Cuddalore unit, run entirely by women. These nurseries supply saplings to 50 distribution centres across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The initiative offers 29 high-value timber species at subsidized rates and supports farmers with field executives providing free consultations and soil testing. Over 160 executives have visited more than 32,000 farmlands to promote agroforestry.
Farmers are further empowered through WhatsApp groups, helplines, and training programs involving experts from premier agricultural institutes. In 2024, 506 plantation events were held on key dates like World Environment Day and Van Mahotsav Week, resulting in 10 lakh additional saplings planted.
Cauvery Calling continues to emphasize soil regeneration as a climate solution, advocating for more global climate finance to be directed towards agriculture and tree-based solutions.
