Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, whose fitness has been under speculation, announced on Monday that he is completely pain-free and still in contention for India's upcoming Test tour of Australia. Speaking at an event for Eugenix Hair Sciences, Shami shared, “I bowled at 100 percent in the nets yesterday. Previously, I was bowling from a half run-up to avoid excessive strain, but I decided to go full tilt, and I’m pleased with the results.” The 34-year-old clarified that he is not facing any pain and remains optimistic about being selected for the crucial five-match series starting November 22 in Perth.

The fast bowler’s rehabilitation had been under scrutiny, with India captain Rohit Sharma previously mentioning knee swelling affecting Shami's recovery from an ankle injury sustained last year. However, Shami dispelled any concerns, saying, "Everyone has been wondering if I'll make it to the Australia series. There is still some time left."

To further strengthen his case for selection, Shami expressed a desire to participate in Bengal's ongoing Ranji Trophy matches before the Australian tour, reinforcing his commitment to returning at peak fitness.
