A tragic day unfolded in Karnataka with two separate road accidents claiming 14 lives in Yellapur and Sindhanur. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a relief package and free treatment for the injured.

In Yellapur, a vegetable-laden lorry carrying 29 people overturned at 4 a.m., leaving 10 dead, including one who succumbed to injuries later. Nine died instantly, while 12 were discharged after treatment at Yellapur Government Hospital. Eight severely injured individuals were shifted to Hubballi KIMS, according to Uttara Kannada District Commissioner Lakshmi Priya.

CM Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences and pledged ₹3 lakh compensation for each victim's family. He urged drivers to exercise caution, citing negligence as the primary cause. Shiggavi MLA Yasir Khan Pathan announced an additional ₹3 lakh for the victims' families, with disbursement scheduled for today. Efforts are underway to secure further compensation, with Minister Zameer Ahmed supporting the appeal.

In Sindhanur, four lives were lost when a Sanskrit Vidyapeeth vehicle overturned near the city outskirts. The driver, Kansali Shiva (20), and students Hayavadana (18), Sujayendra (22), and Abhilash (20) were among the deceased. The vehicle, en route to Anegundi’s Narahari Theertha Vrindavan, overturned thrice after an axle failure.

Authorities responded promptly, ensuring medical aid and relief measures. Investigations are ongoing to prevent such tragedies.
