The 15th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 officially commenced on August 15, bringing together some of Bollywood’s most prominent personalities. The festival was inaugurated with a press conference featuring industry stalwarts such as Karan Johar, Kartik Aaryan, Nora Fatehi, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan, among many others. Also in attendance were directors Shoojit Sircar, Rima Das, and Kabir Khan, along with actor Adarsh Gourav, musician Sona Mohapatra, and newcomer Lakshya.

Karan Johar expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, highlighting its unique commitment to diversity and inclusivity. “I’m extremely excited about watching the opening night film. What sets IFFM apart from other festivals is its true standing for diversity. It’s one of those festivals that truly champions inclusivity in every regard,” Johar remarked.

Kartik Aaryan, attending the festival for the second time, echoed Johar’s excitement. “Really looking forward to the festival this year. And also excited to see the films that are part of the festival this year,” he said, underscoring the anticipation surrounding the event.

The festival was officially launched with keynote speeches by Caroline Pitcher from VicScreen and IFFM director and founder Mitu Bhowmik Lange, setting the tone for a celebration of Indian cinema on a global stage.
