A 27-year-old Ayush Gupta, an IIM Bengaluru student succumbed to cardiac arrest in Bengaluru. He was pursuing his second year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in management.

IIM Bengaluru shared the news of his sad demise on Twitter and wrote “We are deeply saddened by the demise of Ayush Gupta, our second-year PGP student, who suffered a cardiac arrest, this afternoon. Ayush (27) was senior coordinator of the Student Alumni Committee of PGP".

The institute mourned the demise of Ayush on 23rd July and all the classes on 24th July were cancelled. Ayush had done his internship at Faering Capital during the summer break.

Why are youngsters falling prey to cardiac arrests?

One of the major reasons for cardiac arrest among youngsters is not practicing a healthier lifestyle on a daily basis.

Youngsters following a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle with habits like smoking, taking drugs, consuming alcoholic drinks regularly, eating enough food that has lots of fats leading to obesity, lack of a balanced diet, insomnia and engaged in a stressful work environment are some of the elementary causes for cardiac arrests among youngsters.

If you see symptoms like uneasiness in chest, heaviness in heart, breathing problem, irregular heart beats and palpitations, weakness in body and light headedness, it is strongly advised to consult a cardiologist.

Follow a healthy regime that includes having healthy nutritious food, exercising regularly, always be at peace without being anxious and taking much stress and staying away from bad habits go a long way in preventing yourself from cardiac arrests.
