5 arrested by NIA in Chennai in relation to Rameshwaram Cafe Blast

The National Investigation agency has arrested 5 people from Chennai in relation to the Rameshwaram Cafe blast that took place in Bengaluru. The arrests in Chennai were made in the Siddarpet and Bidayar region. 

Raids were conducted in Bengaluru and Chennai. The residence of T Nazir belonging to RT Nagar who is suspected of having links to ISIS was also raided. The house of Shamshuddin in the Keelakarai region of the Ramanathapuram area of Chennai was also raided. T Nazir allegedly brainwashed the other terrorists to carry out the act. He was earlier investigated for the procurement of grenades in RT Nagar. A raid was also conducted in Sultanpalya. Bullets and grenades are said to have been recovered through these raids. An individual named Junaid is being looked at as the mastermind of the attack. He already has a case registered against him with regard to Hawala transactions. NIA officials also visited the Parappana Agrahara jail. 17 locations across 7 states have been raided.

The case will be taken over by the NIA from the CCB on March 5th. NIA AG Rastogi met the Police Commissioner of Bengaluru earlier. The case files will be handed over and the developments will be brought to the notice of NIA.
