Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday, leveled serious accusations against the Opposition BJP, claiming that it attempted to destabilize his Congress-led government by offering large sums of money to Congress MLAs. Siddaramaiah stated during a public address in Mysuru that the BJP proposed ₹50 crore each to 50 Congress legislators in a bid to induce defections and weaken the ruling coalition.

The remarks were made during the inauguration of a ₹470 crore public works project in the T Narasipura assembly constituency. The Chief Minister alleged that after failing to lure Congress MLAs, the BJP resorted to spreading false accusations against him and his government. He emphasized that the alleged money used for these bribes likely came from corrupt sources and questioned the origin of such large sums.

Siddaramaiah further called out prominent BJP leaders, including Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka and state party president BY Vijayendra, suggesting that they might be involved in orchestrating the offers. He expressed concerns over the source of the funds allegedly used for bribing, labeling it as illicit cash.

The accusations mark the latest escalation in the ongoing political feud between the BJP and Congress in Karnataka. Both parties have been trading accusations and engaging in a bitter war of words as the political tensions in the state continue to rise.
