Food delivery platform Zomato has unveiled its 2024 year-end data, shedding light on the dining habits of Indians. The report revealed an intriguing highlight: a Bengaluru resident spent over ₹5 lakh on a single meal, making headlines for extravagant dining.
Biryani continued its reign as the most-loved dish in India for the ninth consecutive year. According to the data, Zomato delivered over 9 crore biryanis in 2024, translating to more than three orders every second. Pizza followed as the second most-ordered food item, with 5.84 crore orders recorded on the platform.
In the beverage category, tea emerged as the favorite drink, surpassing coffee. Indians ordered 77.76 lakh cups of tea, narrowly edging out the 74.32 lakh cups of coffee delivered.
Zomato’s data also offered insights into dining-out trends. Delhi topped the list for savings, with residents availing ₹195 crore worth of discounts and offers while dining out. Bengaluru and Mumbai followed, though their savings didn’t eclipse Delhi's thrifty diners.
