Exactly one year ago, on May 31, 2024, former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna was arrested at the Bengaluru airport in connection with a shocking sexual assault and rape case. Today, May 31, 2025, marks a year of his incarceration, a dramatic fall from grace for the once-powerful politician.

The charges against Prajwal are grave. He faces multiple allegations of rape and sexual harassment. The investigation, led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), has gathered a mountain of evidence. Over 123 witnesses have provided testimonies, and the SIT has submitted a comprehensive charge sheet spanning more than 2000 pages. The forensic reports have further corroborated the claims, confirming the occurrence of sexual assault.

Prajwal's legal journey has been tumultuous. After casting his vote in the Lok Sabha elections on April 25, 2024, he attempted to flee the country, traveling to Germany on April 26. He remained there for a month, sparking widespread outrage back home. However, his return to Bengaluru on May 31, 2024, resulted in his immediate arrest at the airport.

Since then, Prajwal and his legal team have made repeated attempts to secure bail. They have approached the Supreme Court and the Special Court for public representatives, but with no success. His stay in jail continues, as the gravity of the charges and the weight of the evidence prevent any relief.

For now, Prajwal remains behind bars, his future uncertain as the legal process unfolds.
