Aachar and Co, a Kannada film directed by Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy released in theatres on July 28th. 3 weeks later, it is set to hit the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on August 22nd.

Aachar and Co was a success at the box office having collected Rs 1.75 crore in its first week post release. This was despite the fact that it had faced stiff competition from other releases around the same time. Kousalya Supraja Rama, directed by Shashank had released on the same day and with a stellar cast comprising Darling Krishna and Brinda Acharya had collected 2.22 crore in its first week. It was also released during a time when the fad of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagidhare had not settled. Aachar and Co had received mostly positive reviews from critics and the word of mouth factor worked in favour of the film.

Acahar and Co has been set in the 1960s and 1970s and the story follows the journey of 10 siblings from an orthodox family in Jayanagar Bengaluru. The film focuses on the problems encountered by women in such a setting in terms of navigating work, education, marriages and gender roles.
