"I plan to work until I'm 70, but beyond that, who knows?" he said

Superstar Aamir Khan has revealed his decision to produce “Laapataa Ladies” stems from a desire to support emerging talent in the film industry. Reflecting on his career, Khan noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, he took time to reassess his future in the industry. At 56, he acknowledged the finite nature of his acting career, suggesting he might have about 15 active years remaining. “I plan to work until I’m 70, but beyond that, who knows?” Khan said. He emphasized that while he may not be able to star in every film, he can make a significant impact as a producer.

“Laapataa Ladies” represents Khan’s first venture into this new role, with the film highlighting his commitment to nurturing new talent. “I want to provide a platform for new writers, directors, and artists. I’ll be able to produce many more films than I can act in,” Khan stated. The film, which has received positive reviews since its March release, tells the story of two brides who accidentally swap places during a train journey in rural India.

“My acting projects release once every three years, but I aim to support new talent more frequently through production” revealed Khan as he plans to back four to five films annually in his new role.
