Actress Ramya has filed a formal complaint with Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, alleging that fans of actor Darshan posted obscene and threatening comments on her recent Instagram post. The actress submitted documented evidence of over 40 such comments and urged authorities to take legal action.

Speaking to the media after her visit to the Commissioner’s office, Ramya stated that the nature of the abuse reflects a troubling pattern of online harassment. “There’s no difference between me and Renukaswamy. Women should have as much freedom as men,” she asserted. She added that many within and outside the film industry have privately expressed their support but remain silent publicly out of fear.
Ramya emphasized that while public anger is swift when anyone mentions Pavithra Gowda, women speaking up about abuse face silence or backlash. “If we react to threats, it is justified. We are women too,” she said firmly.
On the recent social media posts by Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi and actress Rakshita, Ramya clarified that she doesn’t believe the posts targeted her. “I don’t even have Darshan’s number. I met him just once at a wedding before the Renukaswamy case,” she said, urging Darshan to address his fan base and appeal for respectful online conduct.
The complaint has now been forwarded to the cybercrime division for further investigation.
