Six days after the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 near Ahmedabad, significant progress has been made in identifying the deceased. Out of the 265 passengers who lost their lives in the devastating incident, DNA testing has successfully identified 163 victims so far.

According to hospital authorities, 124 bodies have already been handed over to the respective families. Among the remaining 39 identified bodies, 21 are scheduled to be released today. The identification process continues with DNA sample matching for the rest of the victims, as the authorities work tirelessly to provide closure to grieving families.

The horrifying crash also left 71 passengers injured. Unfortunately, two of those injured succumbed to their injuries during treatment. However, recovery has been possible for others, 42 injured passengers have now been discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, confirmed the updates, stating that the hospital has been working round-the-clock to assist the families, process identification through forensic analysis, and ensure proper treatment for the survivors. Medical teams and grief counselors are also on-site to support the affected.

This tragedy has left an indelible mark on the nation, and the slow but steady process of identification and rehabilitation is offering a small measure of relief amid deep sorrow.
