In a devastating turn of events, Air India Flight AI 171, bound for London, crashed shortly after departing Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner burst into flames in the Meghani Nagar area killing all 242 people aboard the flight. Miraculously, rescue teams have confirmed the survival of one passenger, though details remain scarce.

In response to the tragedy, the Tata Group—parent company of Air India—has announced compensation of ₹1 crore for each family that suffered a fatal loss. Chairman N. Chandrasekaran stated the group will also shoulder medical costs for any injured and rebuild a damaged doctors’ hostel near the crash site, reinforcing their commitment to relief and reconstruction.

To support worried relatives and concerned citizens, Air India has issued a dedicated passenger helpline at 1800 5691 444, and the Civil Aviation Ministry has activated additional emergency contact numbers, offering real-time updates and assistance.

This tragedy marks the first-ever crash of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, casting a pall across aviation circles worldwide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and global leaders have expressed their condolences, praying for the deceased and support for the sole survivor.
