Artificial Intelligence is increasingly becoming part of our daily lives and now, it’s even helping break language barriers. In Bengaluru, a young man used OpenAI’s ChatGPT voice assistant feature to negotiate with an auto-rickshaw driver in Kannada. Using the AI tool, he conveyed, "Anna, this is the route I travel every day and I am a student. Please come for ₹100."  

Initially, the driver had asked for ₹200. However, after a short conversation facilitated by ChatGPT, he agreed to lower the fare to ₹120. The driver explained, "I had said 200 and came down to 150. Since you requested, I reduced another ₹30 and settled at ₹120. It's not possible for me to go lower." The young man, named Mahto, accepted the offer and happily boarded the rickshaw.

A video capturing this moment has gone viral online. Netizens praised the innovative use of AI to overcome a common problem, language barriers , especially for those who are not fluent in Kannada. Comments poured in, with users applauding the fluency of ChatGPT in Kannada and appreciating the polite negotiation. Many even expressed their excitement to try using AI for similar everyday situations like bargaining with shopkeepers and vendors.
