In a strange yet thought-provoking incident from Bengaluru, a tech-savvy user used artificial intelligence to create a fake profile on Bumble and the outcome stunned the internet. The person behind the account known as @infinoz on X, used OpenAI’s GPT-4o image generation tool to design an ultra-realistic image of a fictional woman. Out of curiosity and boredom, he uploaded the image to Bumble. Instead, the fake profile attracted over 2750 likes, SuperSwipes and heartfelt compliments within just two hours.

The user shared the experience online, describing how his phone was overwhelmed with constant notifications. Messages offering ice cream, concert invites and expressions of interest flooded in. The profile remained active for about 12 hours before Bumble finally removed it, but by then, it had already sparked widespread debate.

Online reactions were divided. Some viewed it as an eye-opener, highlighting the gender imbalance and emotional hunger on dating apps. Others criticized dating platforms for being addictive and misleading, with one user sarcastically suggesting that faking one’s existence is now the only way to get noticed.
This incident has raised important questions around tech ethics, loneliness, and the authenticity of online interactions.
