In response to the tragic crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad that killed 242 passengers, the Indian Army has mobilised around 130 personnel to support the ongoing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.

The Army's swift deployment includes specialised engineering units equipped with JCBs to aid in the removal of wreckage and clear debris from the crash site. Medical teams comprising doctors and paramedics have been dispatched to provide immediate care to the injured, alongside Quick Action Teams (QATs) positioned to respond rapidly to evolving needs on the ground.

Additionally, firefighting teams equipped with extinguishers and water bowsers are working in coordination with local authorities to manage fire hazards at the site. The Army has also deployed provost staff to assist in maintaining order and managing access around the crash zone.

A statement from the Indian Army confirmed that the Military Hospital has also been placed on standby to handle potential medical emergencies arising from the incident.

The Army’s coordinated response underscores the gravity of the situation and the importance of swift inter-agency support during aviation disasters. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, and authorities continue to assess the full extent of casualties and damage.
