A tragic plane crash that claimed 265 lives has unexpectedly led to a surge in demand for one specific seat—11A—on Air India flights. The seat, occupied by the sole survivor of the crash, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, has become the center of widespread social media attention.

On what is now called a dark Thursday, an Air India Boeing Dreamliner en route to London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The plane, carrying 242 passengers, collided with the hostel building of B.J. Medical College. The devastating impact destroyed the building and killed 24 students who were in the dining hall. In total, 265 people lost their lives in this horrific tragedy.
Amid the wreckage, 27-year-old Vishwas Kumar Ramesh miraculously survived, having been seated in 11A, located near the emergency exit. Since then, netizens have flooded social media platforms with posts speculating about the seat’s "luck," expressing a desire to book it on future flights—even offering to pay more.
“I want to book 11A, no matter the cost,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter), while others dubbed it the “miracle seat.”
Air India has yet to comment on the growing interest in seat 11A. While the fascination may seem irrational, for many it reflects a mix of survivor curiosity and a desperate search for meaning in the face of incomprehensible loss.
