In an interview with NewsFirst Prime, a techie expressed the deep frustrations felt by many in the industry. "Lost social balance, extending will add no priority, it’s akin to daylight robbery,” he said, encapsulating the sense of injustice and concern over the proposal.

The suggested extension represents a significant shift in the work culture of Karnataka’s thriving IT sector. Critics argue that such a drastic increase in work hours will lead to burnout, health issues, and diminished quality of life, ultimately reducing overall productivity rather than enhancing it.

Industry experts and labor rights advocates have voiced their opposition, calling for a reconsideration of the proposal. They emphasize the importance of sustainable work practices that maintain employee well-being while achieving productivity goals.

The Karnataka government will hold deliberations on the issue before arriving at a conclusion.
