According to ancient scriptures like the Bhavishya Purana, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, and Matsya Purana, purchasing gold on Akshaya Tritiya is said to invoke the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth. The term "Akshaya" itself means "never diminishing", symbolising everlasting wealth and well-being. Hence, devotees flock to jewellery stores, believing that gold bought on this day will multiply over time and ensure happiness, opulence, and prosperity in the household.
In 2025, Akshaya Tritiya falls on April 30. As per the Hindu Panchanga, the third day of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha begins on April 29 at 5:31 PM and ends on April 30 at 2:12 PM. The most auspicious time to purchase gold spans from 5:41 PM on April 29 to 2:12 PM on April 30.
Devotees also observe rituals and offer prayers on this day. The ideal time for Akshaya Tritiya puja is between 6:00 AM and 12:18 PM on April 30.
