  • Report underscores consequences of neglecting preventive healthcare measures

A recently published survey report reveals concerning trends in the healthcare habits of the working population in India.

According to the 'Health Report of Corporate India 2023,' released by Plum, an insurtech company based in Bengaluru, an alarming 90 percent of employees are not prioritizing their health.

The survey, which collected responses from over 700 employees and analyzed telehealth data from over 30,000 consultations conducted over six months, sheds light on various aspects of healthcare negligence.

The findings indicate that 59 percent of employees do not undergo an annual health checkup, and a staggering 90 percent fail to regularly visit doctors to monitor their health.

The report underscores the long-term consequences of neglecting preventive healthcare measures, emphasizing the impact on both individual well-being and overall health.

Furthermore, the report highlights that India's medical inflation rate is among the highest in Asia, standing at 14 percent. This inflationary pressure on healthcare costs has resulted in 71 percent of employees bearing the financial burden of healthcare expenses out of their own pockets, significantly affecting their financial stability.

Despite technological advancements, only 12 percent of companies provide telehealth services to their employees. This indicates a significant gap in leveraging technology for healthcare accessibility within corporate settings.

The survey's comprehensive insights underscore the urgent need for a shift in priorities towards employee health and the implementation of preventive healthcare measures to ensure a healthier and more resilient workforce.
