In her latest film Jigra, Alia Bhatt takes on the fierce role of a protective sister, determined to shield her brother at all costs. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, promises to deliver a deeply emotional yet action-packed narrative of sibling love.

The teaser opens with a melancholic Alia, sporting a messy ponytail, as she recounts her tragic life story to Manoj Pahwa’s character. She reveals that her father died by suicide following her mother's death, leaving her and her brother (played by Vedang Raina) orphaned. This heartbreaking loss drives Alia's character, Satya, to fiercely protect her brother, the only family she has left.

The teaser takes a dark turn when Vedang's character is imprisoned and tortured, setting the stage for Satya's transformation. As shots of Alia in action flash across the screen, the emotional intensity is amplified by a haunting cover of Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka from the 1971 film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, reprised by Achint and sung by Vedang himself.

Bala’s signature nod to Bollywood nostalgia is evident, with a reference to Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic "Angry Young Man" persona. When warned to avoid becoming a "Bachchan," Alia’s character responds, “Now, I must become Bachchan.”

Jigra is set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024, after being delayed from its original September release. Fans can expect a powerful tale of love, sacrifice, and action.
