Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar has fixed a deadline of November 30th for the filling of potholes across the city. “I've asked Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to take suggestions from traffic police and identify potholes. The public can also alert the Palike commissioner,” DK Shivakumar mentioned.

DK Shivakumar stated that the reason for delays was the government’s scrutiny of the quality of the work undertaken by the BBMP and the allegations of corruption.  “Now that the southwest monsoon has ended, I have ordered BBMP officials to resume all approved works that were stalled because of the investigation on alleged irregularities. Work on 352 projects worth about Rs 5,000 crore will be resumed. The investigation will go on parallelly," Shivakumar clarified.

DK Shivakumar emphasised that the top priority for the government is the restoration of storm water drains given that the potential risk of heavy rains striking the city cannot be ignored. “Also, overhead cables along the 350km of TenderSURE roads will be banned. We have asked service providers to utilise underground ducts,” he added.

DK Shivakumar also expressed that the public call to provide suggestions to improve Bengaluru’s infrastructure has received a good response with over 70,000 citizens pitching in.
