As tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate, the Indian government has initiated a large-scale evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Iran. With Israel intensifying its military strikes, concerns over the safety of foreign citizens have surged. Approximately 10,000 Indians currently residing in Iran are being prioritized for phased evacuation.

In the first phase, around 1,000 citizens are being moved out through land corridors, as Iran's airbases remain non-operational due to the ongoing emergency. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Iranian authorities have allowed Indian nationals to exit the country by road, offering rare passage despite the region’s volatility.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran is coordinating this high-risk operation, closely monitoring the situation and assisting citizens with travel logistics. The evacuees are being routed through border crossings with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan, after obtaining the necessary permissions.

Given the urgency, the Indian mission had issued advisories as early as June 15, asking all Indian nationals in Iran to stay in constant contact with the embassy. Citizens were also instructed to strictly follow guidance from officials regarding safe exit points and procedures.
