Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at Baisaran meadow, the location where a devastating terrorist attack unfolded earlier this week. Baisaran, situated about five kilometers from the scenic town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, is a well-known tourist destination, often referred to as ‘Mini Switzerland’ due to its lush green landscapes and rolling meadows.

The attack, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, saw terrorists open fire on a group of unsuspecting tourists. According to police officials, the assault led to the death of 26 individuals, the majority of whom were tourists from different parts of India. This horrific incident is now being considered the deadliest terror strike in the Kashmir Valley since the Pulwama attack of 2019.
Home Minister Shah's visit to the exact site of the attack underscores the seriousness with which the central government is responding to the tragedy. His presence is also intended to reassure the local population and visitors of the government’s commitment to restoring security in the region.
The investigation into the attack continues, as security forces tighten measures across Jammu and Kashmir to prevent further incidents.
