In a heartwarming revelation, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, who was recently ranked as the fourth richest celebrity in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, shared a humble chapter from his past.
During an episode of “Kaun Banega Crorepati 16,” the 81-year-old actor recounted his early struggles, revealing that he once earned a modest Rs 400 a month while living in a cramped room with eight others.

Bachchan’s story came to light when he was conversing with Krishna, a contestant on the show who lives in similar conditions while preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams. “Living with eight people doesn’t surprise me. After finishing college, I moved to Kolkata to find a job and ended up earning just Rs 400 a month. Even then, I shared a room with eight people,” Bachchan shared.

The legendary actor reminisced about the challenging yet amusing times, describing how the room had only two beds, forcing the occupants to take turns sleeping on the floor. “We had fun despite the hardships. Sometimes we argued over who would sleep on the bed or the floor,” he added.
