Her looks were compared to Cillian Murphy

Amy questions beauty standards of Indian audience

Amy did a photoshoot for Perfect Magazine. She posed for Valentino in the photoshoot. She had shared some of the photos on Instagram.

She was however on the receiving end of a troll attack for these photos. “Now I become ugly, the destroyer of my own face,” a user had commented, drawing a comparison to Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer.

One user remarked that this was a transformation from Barbie to Oppenheimer for Amy Jackson.

Amy Jackson has now responded to the trolls in an interview with The Times of India

“I’m an actor and I take my job very seriously. For the last month, I’ve been filming a new project in the UK. So, for the character I am playing, I had to slim down and fully commit myself to the role. The online outcry from the (mainly male) Indian demographic is quite sad. I have worked with male co-stars who had to drastically change their look for a film, and they were highly praised for it. The moment a woman does it through unusual hair and makeup that doesn’t conform to their idealism of beauty, they think they have the right to troll you,” she stated in the interview.

Many male actors have indeed been praised for transformations in their looks including Hollywood actor Christian Bale and Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram. Chiyaan Vikram’s movie I that had seen him both as a bodybuilder and  a cripled individual had incidentally also featured Amy Jackson as the female lead.
