With pollution levels in Delhi once again reaching  the “very poor” level, fingers have pointed to the stubble burning in the neighbouring states. “We want it (stubble burning) stopped. We don't know how you do it, it’s your job. But it must be stopped. Something has to be done immediately,” the Supreme Court told the Punjab government. Instructions were also provided to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi governments. The use of firecrackers across the country has also been banned by the Supreme Court which stated that managing pollution isn’t merely the court’s duty but of all citizens.

Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra also chipped in with a piece of valuable advice in this scenario. “To heal Delhi’s pollution, Regenerative Agriculture MUST be given a chance. It provides a remunerative alternative to stubble burning while simultaneously increasing soil productivity. Vikash Abraham of Naandi Foundation stands ready to help. Let’s do it!” he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Naandi Foundation had initiated an experiment in the Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh for regenerative agriculture of brinjals to make farming profitable in a region wherein close to three-fourth of the population was deemed to be multidimensionally poor as per a NITI Aayog report.
