Former Indian cricketer and renowned wildlife enthusiast Anil Kumble met Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre on Monday, reaffirming his commitment to wildlife conservation in his role as the state’s wildlife ambassador.

The meeting was followed by a press conference where Kumble expressed gratitude to the Karnataka government for entrusting him with this responsibility. “The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Forest Minister have given me this opportunity, and I am happy to contribute,” he said. “I have always been concerned about wildlife since the beginning and will work with everyone involved. I also seek your cooperation in this effort.”

Kumble, who previously served as the vice-president of the Karnataka State Wildlife Board, reiterated his dedication to protecting the state’s rich biodiversity. He highlighted the importance of community engagement and collective responsibility in conserving forests and wildlife habitats.

Minister Eshwar Khandre praised Kumble’s involvement, calling it a positive step towards strengthening conservation efforts. “Having someone of Kumble’s stature supporting wildlife initiatives brings much-needed attention to the cause,” the Minister said.

Karnataka, home to several national parks and tiger reserves, has been intensifying its focus on ecological preservation. With Kumble’s active involvement, the state aims to further its environmental agenda through awareness, policy support, and grassroots initiatives.
