Writer claims episode was shot before meeting

The makers of the TV show “Made in Heaven” had denied allegations made by Yashica Dutt that her work “Coming out as Dalit” was used for the film without credit, stating that some of the experiences are common to those coming from the Dalit community. 

Yashica Dutt hit back at the makers of the show through a post on the social media website, Instagram. She claimed that the writer and director of the show, Alankrita Shrivastava had met with her and talked for 5 hours in New York on July 15th, 2022. Alankrita is alleged to have asked her about her life and her work without revealing the reasons for doing so. She claimed that Alankrita had posed as an anti-caste ally and had used portions of the conversation in the episode “The heart skipped a beat.” She claimed that Neeraj Ghaywan was made accountable on account of his identity by “Savarnas” to pit Dalits against each other. 

Anurag Kashyap came out in defence of the makers of Made in Heaven and cast apprehensions on the intentions of Yashica Dutt. He called her an opportunist who is looking for validation. 

Meanwhile Alankrita Shrivastva also defended herself saying that the episode was shot in October 2021 whereas the meeting took place in July 2022.
