A study has found out that those people below age 50 who snore at night are at a higher risk of getting a stroke or heart disease in the later stage of life.

The study has red-flagged snoring among people who are below age 50 as a health threat.

Snoring is caused due to person’s unhealthy lifestyle and habits. Snoring disrupts sleep at night and leads to other health issues. Snoring has long-term health risks.

Young people who snore have a 60 percent higher probability of getting a stroke, and their risk of suffering from heart disorders increases by five-fold.

The researchers after conducting this study said that people below age 50 who snore at night are five times more likely to develop atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition that causes irregular heart beats at a faster heart beat rate.

This study was based on the analysis of data of around 7.5 lakh people in the US between age 20 and 50 over a period of 10 years.

The study findings have been presented to European Society of Cardiology Congress in Amsterdam.

People start snoring, while sleeping, when air can't flow easily through the nasal airway as it becomes narrow and partially blocked. This causes tissues in the nasal airway to vibrate, resulting in snoring sound.
