The inauguration ceremony for the Bangalore Polo season was held at Agram Polo Ground and a mind boggling Equestrian performance was showcased along with the introduction of various teams.

Brigadier Mann Singh had mentioned in his interaction with the press that although cities in the north such as Delhi and Jaipur had a cult following for the sport of polo, in southern regions the enthusiasm was fading. He mentioned an anecdote of Chola kings having been exceptional players of the game. Therefore, to help draw some traction towards the sport, the ARPA (Agram Riding and Polo Academy) has opened up the tournament to the public of Bengaluru, free of cost. 9 teams would compete over a period of 20 days at 2pm everyday. Citizens can gain entry to the ground from gate 1 and gate 5 of the ASC Centre.

The teams which are participating are Army Service Corps, 61 Cavalry, Indian Navy, Remount Veterinary Corps, National Defence Academy, Regiment of Artillery, Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club, Army Riding & Polo Academy team and Chennai Polo team. The primary sponsor of the event is SBI bank.

Prithvi Rathore the captain of the Army Service Corps representing Bengaluru was hopeful that the crowd support and the preparation that has gone into setting up the ground would be an added advantage for the home team. He mentioned how the ASC along with the 61 Cavalry have been instrumental in conducting polo tournaments across the country.
