Ashwin would tell ground staff what areas to tamper with: Laxman Sivaramakrishnan

Retired spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan usually seen in the commentary panel was missing from the International Cricket Council’s released list of commentators for the World Cup. He had taken to X to express his discontentment over the lack of spinners in the commentary panel. 

“Not one genuine spinner in the commentary panel that is being played in India. How will people get educated on spin bowling? Does it mean only batsmen and some colour commentators know the game. Pathetic mix,” he posted. 

A user pointed out India’s weakness to spin bowling in response to the thread. To this Sivaramakrishnan replied, “Indian batsmen are struggling against spin because the pitches in India are doctored for Ashwin in Test matches. Look at his record in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) Countries. 

“Any fool will get wickets on tampered pitches in India.  He would go straight from the airport to the ground and tell the ground staff what areas to tamper with, I have seen with my own eyes several times.378 of his wickets are in India. He is still playing because there is nobody else. He is a liability as a fielder. He is the most unfit cricketer and gives excuses for everything,” he added. 

He also indicated that Ashwin has made it to the team by being in the good books of the selectors.
