  • India's quarter final clash with Malaysia was affected by rain
  • Bangladesh were bowled out for 51
  • India would face either Sri Lanka or Pakistan in the final

After a rain interrupted quarter final against Malaysia saw India through to the semi finals on the basis of seeding, the women in blue did not have much resistance from Bangladesh in their semi final clash.

Despite having won the toss and opted to bat first, Bangladesh lost a wicket in the very first ball of the match as opener Shahti nicked Pooja Vastrakar’s ball to the keeper. One more wicket fell in the first over as opener Shamima was caught leg before wicket in her first ball. Pooja Vastrakar ended up being the leading wicket taker for India with 4 wickets in her spell with 3 of them being top order batsmen. Bangladesh never fully recovered from their shaky start and were eventually bowled out for 51. Only one batsman managed to get to a score of double digits and this was their captain Nigar Sultana.

India lost 2 wickets during their chase but were never in a position of discomfort. They reached the target with 70 balls to spare.

They are now guaranteed a medal as they have reached the final. They would take on the winner of the semi final clash between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The final would take place on 25th September.
