Fabrizio Longo, the 62-year-old director of Audi Italy, tragically passed away on Sunday after falling 10,000 feet during a mountain climbing expedition near the Italian-Swiss border. A seasoned climber, Longo was using appropriate safety gear, but a fatal fall occurred, leading to his death.

The incident was witnessed by another climber, who immediately contacted emergency services. Rescue teams later located Longo’s body approximately 700 feet down in a gorge. He was declared dead at the scene, and his remains were transported to the nearby town of Carisolo, according to reports.

Longo had a long and distinguished career in the automotive industry, beginning in 1987. He joined Audi in 2012 and was appointed Director of Audi Italy in 2013. Before his time at Audi, he held significant roles at Fiat and its competitor Lancia.

An Audi spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over Longo’s passing, highlighting his integrity and the positive impact he had on the workplace. “He was a person of great integrity and a source of unwavering support,” the spokesperson stated, adding that his leadership fostered a work environment filled with respect and warmth.
