An audio clip allegedly featuring Karnataka Congress MLA BR Patil has stirred controversy over claims of corruption in the state’s housing scheme under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation. In the recording, Patil, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission, reportedly accuses officials associated with the housing body of engaging in large-scale bribery.

The conversation is purportedly between Patil and Sarfaraz Khan, personal assistant to Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. Patil is heard expressing dissatisfaction over the allotment of houses under the scheme, alleging that preference was given to recommendations from Gram Panchayat presidents who had paid bribes, while proposals made by elected representatives like himself were ignored.
The audio has intensified scrutiny of the implementation of the housing program, raising concerns about irregularities in the distribution process. Patil suggests that the process has been subverted by financial incentives rather than being guided by need or merit.
Khan, in response, denies any wrongdoing and reportedly assures that action will be taken if evidence of bribery is provided. Patil warns that public disclosure of beneficiary lists could lead to serious political fallout for the government.
The clip has sparked calls for an investigation, with opposition parties seizing on the opportunity to demand accountability and transparency from the ruling Congress government.
