In a chilling case from Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district, a woman has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with her maternal uncle to kill her husband just 45 days after their wedding. The motive, as revealed by police, stemmed from her ongoing illicit affair with her uncle, which she believed was threatened by her husband.

The victim, identified as Priyanshu alias Chhotu, was returning to his village on a motorcycle on the night of June 24 when he was ambushed and fatally shot by contract killers. Investigations led to the arrest of three suspects, including the deceased’s wife, Goonja Singh, who police say was the mastermind behind the murder.

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police Ambrish Rahul stated that Goonja had been in a romantic relationship with her maternal uncle, Jeevan Singh, even before her marriage. After being married off to Priyanshu against her will, she allegedly saw him as a barrier to continuing her affair and, along with Jeevan, decided to have him killed.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe into the case. Through call detail records, CCTV footage, and intelligence inputs, officers were able to trace and arrest Goonja Singh along with her two alleged accomplices, Jayshankar and Mukesh Sharma.

During questioning, Goonja confessed her involvement in the murder plot. She admitted that she had no intention of marrying Priyanshu but did so under her father's pressure. Police are currently working to apprehend other suspects believed to be involved in the conspiracy.
