Former Minister of State for Agriculture in Karnataka B.C Patil has been confronted by a tragic situation as his son-in-law has committed suicide. Friends and relatives have offered words of courage to B.C Patil under such testing circumstances. There is however shock due to this unprecedented development. B.C Patil is believed to be inconsolable at the moment. Prathap also helped B.C Patil in handling political affairs.
B.C Patil’s son-in-law Prathap Kumar is well known in the town of Hirekerur. He consumed pesticide and was found unwell at the Komaranahalli-Arekere Road in Honnali. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. He however did not respond to the medical treatment and passed away subsequently.

On the surface, personal reasons appear to have been the cause for suicide. His body was sent to his native place after postmortem was conducted. His final rites will take place at 1 PM on 9th July as per norms of the Veerashaiva Lingayat tradition near his father’s burial spot in an agricultural land owned by the family.
The reasons for the suicide still reamins unclear. No death note was recovered from Prathap. His mobile is under police custody for investigative purposes
