The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, linked to a series of high-profile crimes across India, is once again under scrutiny following the assassination of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique. Siddique, who was close to Bollywood star Salman Khan, had reportedly received a death threat two weeks before his murder, raising suspicions about the Bishnoi gang’s involvement.

Lawrence Bishnoi, the gang’s leader, is currently incarcerated in Gujarat but continues to wield significant influence from behind bars. The gang has become infamous for its involvement in extortion, contract killings, and other criminal activities. Salman Khan has been a particular target for Bishnoi, who reportedly harbors a grudge against the actor over the 1998 black buck poaching case. Bishnoi’s associate, Rohit Godara, has previously declared that anyone close to Khan is an enemy of the gang.
Police sources estimate that the Bishnoi gang has over 700 shooters and connections to criminals nationwide, making it a formidable syndicate. Recently, the gang has been linked to multiple murders, including the high-profile killings of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala and an Afghan-origin gym owner in Delhi.
As the investigation into Siddique’s murder unfolds, central agencies and police forces from multiple states, including Gujarat and Delhi, are collaborating to probe the gang’s possible role in this latest act of violence.
