  • This follows the recent death of an artist, adding to ongoing misfortunes for the team

The team of Rishab Shetty's much-anticipated film Kantara Chapter 1 is facing a series of unfortunate incidents. Just days after the sudden demise of mimicry artist Viju VK, who passed away due to a heart attack at a homestay, the film unit has now encountered another mishap during shooting.

The incident occurred during a filming schedule at the Mani Dam in Mastikatte, near Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district. While shooting a scene on water, a boat carrying over 30 people, including lead actor and director Rishab Shetty himself, unexpectedly capsized. The situation could have turned tragic, but all the actors and crew members present managed to swim to safety. No casualties or serious injuries have been reported.

The film crew had planned a 15-day shooting schedule at the dam, but the accident has disrupted those plans. The capsized boat contained several pieces of essential filming equipment, including cameras and props, all of which have been lost to the water.

This marks yet another blow to the Kantara Chapter 1 team. Even before the film’s release, the production has been marred by repeated tragedies. Notably, three actors associated with the film have already lost their lives under separate circumstances, deepening the cloud of concern surrounding the project.

The repeated incidents have left the team shaken and forced a pause in the production. While no one was physically harmed this time, the emotional and financial toll of these back-to-back accidents is undeniable.
