New Delhi and Bangladesh have achieved considerable feats in the last 17 years of Hasina’s time. Strategically, her primary focus of keeping the Jamaat-E-Islam and pro-Pakistani elements out of political reach in Bangladesh was a boon for India. While Bangladesh is India’s biggest trade partner in South Asia, India is Bangladesh’s second biggest partner, second only to China. Although the budding influence of China has remained a concern, her partnership and steady interest in cross-border trade collaborations, joint security efforts and people exchange programs with India had been flourishing.
