The operation was carried out under the supervision of South Zone Commissioner Digvijay Bodke, who led the teams across different divisions. The clearance was aimed at removing illegal structures and commercial extensions that had taken over public walkways, endangering pedestrians and contributing to traffic congestion.
Areas covered in the clearance drive:
- Basavanagudi Division
Encroachments were removed along the stretch from K.R. Road to East Anjaneya Road, restoring pedestrian access in a traditionally busy zone. - BTM Layout Division
The operation here targeted the 20th Main of Laskar Hosur Road, specifically the area from Forum Mall to the 80 Feet Road Indoor Stadium, where footpaths had been heavily encroached by street vendors and shop fronts. - Chickpet Division
In the Kanakanapalya area, from Jayanagar 8th Main Road to Pattalamma Main Road, several temporary stalls and unauthorized extensions were removed. - Jayanagar Division
Encroachments in 4th 'T' Block, from Jayanagar 32nd E Cross to Marenahalli Metro Road, were cleared to allow smoother pedestrian movement and better road visibility. - Padmanabhanagar Division
The BBMP teams cleared footpath blockages from Kadirenahalli Underpass to Katriguppe Signal, a stretch known for chaotic pedestrian traffic. - Vijayanagar Division
From Attiguppe Petrol Bunk to Skyline Apartment along Card Road, illegal structures on footpaths were removed, making the road safer for commuters.
Officials confirmed that the drive was part of BBMP’s ongoing efforts to enforce civic discipline, improve urban mobility, and enhance walkability in Bengaluru’s core areas. Shop owners have been warned against re-encroachment, and further legal action will follow if violations reoccur.
