The woman blocked the Commissioner’s tractor and asked, “Who are you? Are you the BBMP Commissioner?” She pointed out that water had reached up to her knees and questioned why no one was addressing these recurring issues. She expressed frustration over the lack of permanent solutions and asked what the authorities were doing to prevent such flooding in the future.

Commissioner Maheshwar Rao responded by saying that all officials had been working overnight and the civic body was actively identifying problem areas. He explained that Sai Layout is a BDA (Bangalore Development Authority) layout, and therefore coordination with BDA is required to resolve infrastructure issues. He acknowledged that similar problems occurred in the past and that even the Chief Minister had visited the area during previous floods. Plans are being discussed to implement a lasting solution, he assured.

When questioned about the delay in BMRCL (Bangalore Metro) work contributing to the problem, the Commissioner denied the claim and said instructions had already been issued to ensure that drainage paths are kept clear wherever construction is ongoing. He also mentioned that several potholes have been identified and are being fixed. Residents can use the “Fix My Street” app to report such issues. He further added that although stormwater drains are being cleaned regularly, repeated dumping of waste by residents is causing fresh blockages.
