In a bid to improve the aesthetics and usability of key traffic intersections, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has upgraded 25 junctions in the city’s central business district. This initiative, launched under the Brand Bengaluru concept a year ago, aims to create a more pleasant experience for motorists and pedestrians.

The revamped junctions now feature dry fountains, landscaped greenery, LED lighting, and other amenities designed to ease stress, particularly during peak traffic hours. These busy intersections contribute to commuter fatigue. By incorporating better illumination, curbstones, swings at select spots, and enhanced landscaping, BBMP aims to make them more visually appealing and functional. The project was undertaken with a budget of ₹24 crore.

BBMP Engineer-in-Chief B.S. Prahallad reportedly highlighted Hudson Circle as a key example, where LED lights have been installed for the first time to enhance its appeal. The combination of illumination, fountains, and greenery offers a refreshing atmosphere and a visual treat for motorists.

Additionally, Race Course Road and Shivananda Circle have been upgraded under the BBMP Central Project Division. Race Course Road now includes fancy benches, allowing pedestrians and officegoers to take breaks. Officials emphasized that beyond aesthetics, the goal is to ensure these junctions remain well-maintained and do not become neglected spaces.
