  • BBMP is fixing 600-700 potholes reported via the app using cold mix
  • Over 3.75 lakh property owners owe Rs 700-Rs 800 crore in pending taxes; notices are being sent
  • BBMP Commissioner urges timely payments and promises continued pothole-filling efforts during rains

As the city gears up for more monsoon showers, the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) is intensifying efforts to address pothole issues and crack down on property tax defaulters. BBMP Chief Commissioner T. Maheshwar Rao confirmed that a special team has been deployed to fill potholes reported through the ‘Fix My Street’ app.

So far, 600 to 700 potholes have been flagged on the app by citizens. Rao clarified that this number only reflects the complaints officially recorded and not the total number of potholes across the city. Despite public perception, BBMP says it's actively working to fill them using modern Cold Mix and Ecopix technology that allows repairs even during wet conditions.

On another front, the civic body has turned its attention to property tax dues. Over 3.75 lakh property owners owe BBMP between Rs 700 to Rs 800 crore in pending taxes. Notices are now being sent via SMS and email to these defaulters. Rao urged citizens to clear dues promptly to avoid further action, reassuring that those who have already paid will not face issues.

This dual strategy, tackling monsoon-time road repairs and boosting revenue recovery, comes as part of BBMP’s broader push for better civic management in the city.
