In recent months, the incidence of Dengue cases has been steadily rising in Bengaluru and certain regions of the state.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka (DHFW-GoK) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have joined hands with ARTPARK (AI & Robotics Technology Park) at IISc (Indian Institute of Science) to introduce a dashboard and a mobile app for Dengue disease management in Karnataka.
These apps help develop predictive analytics and assist policymakers and public health officials in preparing for dengue disease outbreak and manage dengue disease control activities.
The disease surveillance dashboard will furnish a visual representation of outbreaks throughout Karnataka, offering insights at both the district and sub-district levels, while also presenting historical case trends.
Additionally, it will generate a predictive risk map for outbreaks spanning the next four weeks, available to state and district authorities.
The disease surveillance dashboard is being developed to cater to:
- Policymakers and public health decision-makers, enabling monitoring at district and state levels, facilitating informed advisories, and promoting data-driven policymaking.
- District health officers, surveillance officers, and program officers, facilitating daily management, monitoring, interventions, and resource allocation.
- Health Officers, Ministry of Health officials, and Medical Officers, enabling real-time disease monitoring at the village or ward level, and planning actions such as testing, surveys, and source reduction activities, among others.
The mobile application is being crafted to serve:
- Asha workers, streamlining survey-related activities such as fever surveys, larval surveys, and house-to-house health surveys.
- Spraymen, optimizing source reduction activities.
- Medical Officers and Ministry of Health officials, providing tools for verification and activity reviews.
- Healthcare workers, supporting training and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) efforts.
