Since the launch of faceless, contactless, and online e-khata issuance system, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued 1.25 lakh final e-khatas. The initiative, launched on October 1, aims to digitize property records, curb corruption, and improve transparency. Over 12 lakh draft e-khatas have been downloaded from the official portal www.bbmpeAasthi.karnataka.gov.in.

To expand the program, BBMP launched another portal, bbmp.karnataka.gov.in/newkhata, targeting 5 lakh properties without manual e-khatas to bring them under the tax net.
BBMP Special Commissioner (Revenue) Munish Moudgil reportedly stated the civic body now processes 3,000–4,000 e-khatas daily.
Despite these strides, complaints of rejection persist, primarily due to name mismatches between Aadhaar and sale deeds. Some property owners allege that Assistant Revenue Officers (AROs) are rejecting applications without proper review, even after BBMP disabled most blanket rejection options.
Several citizens whose applications were rejected for a name mismatch, have called for more scrutiny.
Mr. Moudgil assured support for resolving such issues, emphasizing BBMP’s commitment to streamlining the system.
