The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to appoint a consulting firm to manage financial strategies for major infrastructure projects, including a tunnel road and a sky deck, over the next five years. The civic body has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking strategic consultancy services to ensure financial sustainability and implement transformational initiatives, according to Moneycontrol.

The consulting firm will develop a comprehensive financial and operational framework, analyze BBMP’s project plans, and compare them with best practices from other urban projects. This approach aims to optimize the execution of large-scale developments, BBMP reportedly said.

One of the key projects, the ₹16,500 crore underground tunnel road, is slated to begin construction in early 2025. The 18-kilometer corridor will connect Hebbal in the north to the Central Silk Board junction in the south, alleviating traffic congestion along the Outer Ring Road. The project will be funded through a public-private partnership, with private contractors covering 70% of costs.

Additionally, the proposed ₹500 crore sky deck, standing 250 meters tall, will provide a panoramic 360-degree view of Bengaluru. While Hemmigepura is a potential site, the final location is pending approval from the Karnataka government.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has emphasized the transformative potential of these initiatives in improving urban mobility and infrastructure in India’s tech capital.
