In the wake of increasing dengue cases in Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to intensify index survey of dengue cases in vulnerable places across Bengaluru.
BBMP has started collecting information on dengue cases through surveys and is organising awareness programmes for controlling and preventing surge in the number of cases of dengue in the city. ASHA workers and auxiliary nurse midwives are being engaged in creating awareness.
Recent incessant rains and the resulting stagnation of water into dirty pits across unhygenic places are being attributed as the main cause for dengue cases to breakout in the city.
BBMP has instructed people to keep their water tanks clean and covered, spray larvicides and take up fuming to control and prevent the spread of dengue.
BBMP has also advised those people with symptoms of fever, nausea and body ache to immediately consult doctors and take appropriate treatment.
It is also advised to wear clothes covering the entire body, use mosquito repellents and clean flower pots and water tanks regularly.
As per BBMP data, around 2,246 cases of dengue have been reported since July and a 75-year-old person had also died of dengue shock syndrome in the city.
If people are found to be positive for dengue, they have to strictly consult a doctor and take the diet as suggested by doctors.
