For the first time, the festival will be celebrated in every ward of Bengaluru, highlighting the BBMP's commitment to stray welfare. Additionally, the BBMP is focused on educating local restaurateurs about the importance of sharing leftover food with strays. Pourakarmikas, or municipal waste workers, will play a crucial role as intermediaries, facilitating this connection between restaurants and stray dogs. By organizing the Kukur Tihar festival, the BBMP hopes to cultivate a compassionate community that respects animal rights and fosters a peaceful coexistence between all living beings in Bengaluru.
